I just wanted to share all the greatness that was the Inaugural Happy Black Girl Day Event. Last week, I decided to take the awesomeness of Happy Black Girl Day offline and into our shared reality. I was so happy to host lovely friends at the quaint little Mocha Lounge here in DC. We all gathered in womanly strength and love, welcoming each other and others (white folks and men!!) to chat, imbibe and snack in celebration with us. It was such a good day to be a Happy Black Girl in DC!

We had a grand time! Special thanks to Rachel Stewart for providing a lovely jewelry prize and to Darnell, the proprietor of Mocha Lounge for providing a beautiful and cozy venue for our event. I hope to see more Happy Black Girls have celebratory gatherings in cities all over. Never-ending thanks to Sister Toldja of www.thebeautifulstruggler.com for creating Happy Black Girl Day!! I am working on the next Happy Black Girl Day event in DC and of course all are welcome! Details to come, but in the meantime Be Happy!
